While a farmer doing his routine dig, he unexpectedly found the remains of a prehistoric mammoth. The farmer who was known as James Bristle together with his friend thinks that they had discovered a bent fence post while they were digging, but what makes them shocked it what they discovered was far from being a bent fence post that they think because what they found is the remains of a prehistoric mammoth. In a soy field in Michigan, the animal bones were found by the farmer. The fact that the farmer didn’t just open the ribs of the woolly mammoth skeleton but it also included its whole skull and tusks is that what their discovery even more amazing.

After they were called by Mr. Bristle the Paleontologists from the University of Michigan were quickly called and took control of the site. The prehistoric animal lived between 10,000 to 15,000 years ago, as stated by the head of the Department of Paleontology of the University, Daniel Fisher,

“What we found here is a partial skeleton of a woolly mammoth. “It was an adult male, probably in its forties at the time of its death. Probably lived between 10,000 and 15,000 years ago.” 

Mr. Bristle said to the Ann Arbour News:

“It was probably a rib bone that came up. “We thought it was a bent fence post. It was covered in mud.” 

It also includes large sections of its remains including the pelvis, vertebrae, shoulder blades, and of course the gigantic tusks and skull while the skeleton is not complete.

The team of paleontologists is now working on the sites thinking that the animal was killed by humans who cut its meat there. as stated by Prof. Fisher. Inhabited North America until they became extinct 10-11,000 years ago the mammoths and mastodons were distant relatives of the elephants. In Michigan, there is about 300 mastodon and 30 mammoths were early discovered, however, not a lot of those were as complete as the one that James Bristle has found. He said,

“Our working hypothesis for what we’re dealing with here is a partial skeleton, the pieces having been brought to this place by ancient humans for storage of carcass parts in a pond. “It was there intent to come back later and retrieve this when they needed fresh meat.”

The proof also involves the discovery of three large boulders telling that the three large boulders were used to anchor the remains in the pond. He added,

 “One element of how big a deal of it is will depend on the geologic age of this specimen when we get it dated. “We don’t know that yet. It might sort of stretch backward in time our idea of when humans were here in Michigan and active in this sort of way. “I would say being able to demonstrate that humans were here, and especially if it turns out they were here well back in time, those will be things that work to make this more and more important.”
