The authorities were puzzled by the sudden disappearance of a youth named Elisabeth Fritzl for 24 years. She disappeared at the age of 18 without any trace, but recently the authorities finally discovered that she has been kept and maltreated by her father in their basement after 24 years. Elisabeth already experienced abuse from her father at such a young age. She grew up with her parents, Joseph and Rosemarie Fritzl together with her six siblings in Austria.

 But, she became the receiver of her father’s outbursts of rage and abusive nature. Because of this, at the age of 18, she chose to leave their house. She began to work in a restaurant. But then, Elisabeth sudden disappeared without a trace on August 29, 1984.

However, there was a letter has come in their home a month after she left. Her father, Joseph delivered the letter to the authorities for investigation where Elisabeth is. She said in the letter that she was staying in one of her friend's house and she also said to her parents that she already left the country for good so they don't need to look for her. But the fact that even her friends don't have any idea where she really is, makes her disappearance more strange.

Joseph then thought that her missing daughter was already brainwashed as she was under the supervision of a cult. Little did all they know that Elisabeth was just staying in their house. It turns out that the reason for her disappearance was because of her father. For many years, Joseph hides her in their basement.

Joseph hides the missing young girl in a sound-proof room that was built in their basement. Reports claimed that Joseph will go to Elisabeth every three days to deliver her some food and water. However, the physical abuse turned into a sexual abuse that drove to Elisabeth get pregnant. She gave birth to seven children, 3 of them were under the supervision of Joseph and Rosemarie through the years that she was locked on the basement.

Joseph said to his wife that the kids were left on their doorstep for him to keep Rosemarie from identifying his secret. Meanwhile, Elisabeth's daughter fell sick one day. She then asked her father if she can rush her daughter to the hospital. But little did Joseph knew that his secret will be found out when he grants Elisabeth's request. The doctors and even his own family were confused by the story. Joseph was arr*sted by the police and sentenced to life in pris*n without parole.
